***CAUTION***

*We will not perform a waxing service if you are using specific medications like Accutane, have sunburns, open wounds, or active skin infections.*

Medications

  • Accutane (Isotretinoin): You cannot be waxed while on Accutane or if you have taken it in the past 6 months, as it thins and severely compromises the skin.
  • Retin-A / Retinol: Waxing while using topical retinoids on the face or body can cause the skin to lift. You generally need to stop using these for 5–7 days prior to waxing.
  • Antibiotics & Blood Thinners: Certain antibiotics and blood thinning medications can make your skin highly sensitive and prone to bruising or lifting.

Skin Conditions & Injuries

  • Sunburns & Tanning: We will not wax skin that is peeling, sunburned, or has been in a tanning bed within the last 24–48 hours.
  • Lesions & Rashes: Active cold sores, warts, eczema, psoriasis, or any open cuts/rashes in the treatment area.
  • Skin Diseases: Conditions like Lupus or AIDS require clearance from a doctor.

Active Infections & Illness

  • Contagious Illnesses: Having a cold, flu, fever, or an active viral infection.
  • Bacterial/Fungal Infections: Impetigo, boils, or yeast infections will cause your appointment to be canceled.

Before your Wax

Before waxing, ensure the hair is the right length (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch; think of a grain of rice) and exfoliate the area gently a day or two before.  You can use a gentle scrub, exfoliating mitt, or washcloth. Avoid shaving for at least two weeks before your appointment. Also, avoid lotions, creams, or oils on the day of the wax, and consider taking an over-the-counter pain reliever 30-45 minutes before your appointment. Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment, possibly clothing you would not mind getting some wax on depending on the wax service you are receiving.

Waxing Aftercare

Your first wax session will mainly remove the hair that is visible above the skin. Hair grows in different cycles, some hair that was below the skin or not long enough for the wax to pull will not be removed until your next few sessions. After about 3 to 4 sessions, all the hair should be growing in sync, leading to longer-lasting results. Make sure to exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week between your waxing sessions and remember to moisturize DAILY! Aftercare products are available for purchase.
